Happy Hour with Rikumo: Asahi Super Dry

The Happy Hour with Rikumo series shares entertainment possibilities from a distinctly Japanese perspective.  Missed last week’s beer review? Catch up here.

Asahi ("rising sun" in Japanese) is known for being Japan’s first dry beer and the nation’s most popular beer. When released in 1987, it ignited a craze for dry beer, commonly referred to as the Dry Wars. Although the taste is similar to Sapporo, you’ll notice slightly tangier notes and a significantly less bitter aftertaste. Try pairing this pale golden beverage with spicy food, it’s mild flavor won’t compete.

We enjoyed using the Futagami brass bottle opener.

Designed by Philippe Starck, the Asahi Beer Hall is known for it's "golden flame." It faces the Sumida River in Tokyo, Japan.

Check in with us next Friday for another Happy Hour with Rikumo. Have a great weekend!
