If your 2018 New Year's resolutions include staying in touch with relatives, there's no better way to get an early start than by sending a nengajo card. Nengajo is the Japanese custom of writing a New Year’s card to friends, colleagues, and family to be delivered on the first of January. Beginning in early December, you can buy or make your own nengajo and drop them off at the post station to be delivered on January 1st. All cards are bundled up by household at the post office and held until their intended delivery date. New Year's Day is one of the most important holidays in Japan,  with families visiting each other and poring over their own nengajo bundles.

Starting today and running through the holiday season, we are giving out free nengajo postcards designed by us with all online and in-store purchases. If you're in Philadelphia, you can visit our nengajo station at the Rikumo concept store and write your cards while you shop-  postage and delivery is on us. Simply pick a card, write your message and desired mailing address, and hand it to one of us for delivery. All nengajo cards will be delivered on January 1st.
