Workshop no. 25: Furoshiki Gift Wrapping With Ladies Wine & Design

On Wednesday, December 12th, we were happy to host the Philadelphia chapter of Ladies Wine & Design for a night of festive cocktails, stimulating conversation, and furoshiki gift wrapping. For the uninitiated, Ladies, Wine Design was started by Jessica Walsh to help increase the number of females in creative positions by hosting mentorship circles, portfolio reviews, talks, and creative meet-ups. In less than two years of launching they’ve spread to chapters in over 200 cities all over the world.

Upon arriving, each guest received their own custom-dyed furoshiki from textile artist (and Rikumo employee) Sarah Moore. After grabbing a freshly prepared Matcha Chicory Green Russian made with Art in the Age’s Chicory Root Vodka and our in house Morihata Matcha (recipe below) Sarah led participants through some popular furoshiki gift wrapping techniques.

-

Matcha Chicory Green Russian

4.5 oz oat or almond milk
1 oz of Chicory Root Vodka
1 teaspoon of Morihata Matcha
1 tablespoon of honey
Splash of frothed milk

Warm milk, honey, and matcha together until dissolved. Wait till cool, then stir in vodka. Pour over ice, add splash of frothed milk!
